Heber-Overgaard Community Food Bank (HOFB), a local community partner, was recently honored as a recipient of a generous $17,060 donation from the Light the World Giving Machine campaign. The contribution will go a long way in supporting the food bank’s mission of providing meals and essential supplies to local families in need. The Giving Machine allows community members to donate items to various charities through its 150 worldwide vending machines, with over $50 million donated since 2017.
Dick and Debbie Bradford, who help lead the food bank alongside a dedicated group of volunteers, expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support. “We are incredibly thankful for this donation,” said Debbie Bradford. “Every dollar helps us serve more people in our community. It is truly a blessing.”
The funds came at a pivotal time for the food bank, as it prepares to relocate to a new and more accessible location. Beginning in June, HOFB will be operating out of its new facility on Highway 260, conveniently situated next to the local pharmacy here in Overgaard. The move is expected to enhance both visibility and accessibility for those seeking assistance.
Volunteers have been at work preparing the new location to better serve the growing needs of the community. The food bank’s operations continue to be fueled by local support, and the Bradfords emphasized that volunteers are the backbone of the organization.
With the new location opening soon and a major donation in hand, the Heber-Overgaard Community Food Bank is well-positioned to expand its impact. Community members who want to make a difference are encouraged to get involved—whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word.
Additionally, the Heber-Overgaard Community Resource Network (HOCRN) continues its unwavering support with a monthly contribution of $1,000 to help keep the food bank running strong.
Together, we’re lighting the way toward a more hopeful, hunger-free future.
